Rihanna Loses $36 Million After Collapse of Luxury Fashion Venture With LVMH

Pop star Rihanna has reportedly lost nearly $36 million after the failure of her luxury fashion venture with French conglomerate LVMH.

The 37-year-old launched her high-end clothing label, Fenty, under the trade name Project Loud France in 2019, with Rihanna investing about €29.9 million and LVMH contributing roughly €30 million.

The partnership was wound down in 2021 as both parties decided to focus on her cosmetics and lingerie brands. According to accounts from Denim UK Holdings, the British arm through which Rihanna invested, the closure left the singer with a significant financial loss.

The fashion label struggled during the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented Rihanna from visiting design studios in Paris and Italian production houses. The brand also faced criticism over its steep pricing — including a padded denim jacket costing nearly $1,000 and a corseted shirtdress priced at about $810 — placing it at the ultra-premium end of the market.

At the time of its closure, Rihanna and LVMH said their priority would shift to expanding the Fenty ecosystem through beauty, skincare, and lingerie.

Despite the setback, Rihanna remains one of the world’s wealthiest entertainers, with an estimated net worth of at least $1 billion, largely driven by the success of Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty.
