Court Registrar Demoted In Kano For Forgery, Falsifying Affidavits
The Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has demoted a court registrar, Adamu Salisu, over allegations of forgery and the falsification of affidavits of service.
This development was confirmed in a statement by the spokesperson of the state judiciary, Baba Jibo-Ibrahim, following the commission’s 84th meeting held on Friday.
Salisu, who was previously on Grade Level 13 and serving as Registrar of High Court No. 13, has been downgraded to Grade Level 12 and relieved of his registrar duties.
According to Jibo-Ibrahim, Salisu forged the signature of a bailiff and falsely signed official documents as a Commissioner for Oaths. He confessed to the misconduct and was held accountable.
In addition to his demotion, Salisu was issued a stern warning to refrain from unethical behavior or encouraging others to do the same, with the threat of criminal prosecution if he reoffends.
The JSC emphasized that the action aligns with its mandate to preserve the integrity and discipline of the judiciary.
In a separate case, Yusuf Ayuba, a Clerical Assistant at High Court No. 8, Miller Road, was investigated and found guilty of absenteeism after being absent from duty for four months without valid reason. Appropriate disciplinary measures were also taken against him.
The commission noted that these sanctions aim to discourage misconduct and absenteeism within the judiciary.
“The dommission demoted him from Grade Level 5 to Grade Level 4 as punishment for gross misconduct,” Jibo-brahim stated.
He added that the sanctions were intended to serve as a deterrent to other staff and curb absenteeism within the judiciary staff.
“The commission reiterates its non- tolerance policy on misconduct and reaffirms its commitment to enforcing discipline, accountability and professional ethics across all cadres of the judiciary,” he said.
