Oyo Government Warns Against Exam Malpractice As NECO Monitoring Begins
The Oyo State Government has issued a stern warning to students and teachers across the state, urging them to steer clear of examination malpractice during the ongoing National Examination Council (NECO) exams.
The warning was delivered by the Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Oladipo Olubukola, during a two-day monitoring exercise across various secondary schools in the state.
Olubukola emphasized that any form of malpractice could derail students’ academic futures and compromise the integrity of the education system. “Students must face their studies and prepare adequately for their future,” she said, adding that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy for examination fraud.
She also cautioned teachers against aiding or abetting any misconduct, stating that the government would enforce strict disciplinary measures on any parties found culpable.
“The Makinde-led government is fully committed to fostering high academic standards and ethical conduct in all public schools,” she added.
Olubukola highlighted that TESCOM is working hand-in-hand with educational authorities to uphold exam integrity and ensure that public schools remain centers of academic excellence.
In his remarks, the Principal of Ibadan Grammar School, Mr. Ogunleye Biodun, commended the administration for prioritizing education, particularly through infrastructure, teacher training, and exam oversight.
The monitoring team visited several prominent schools, including Ibadan Grammar School, St. Anne’s School, Olubi Memorial Grammar School, and Saint Luke’s College.
