Three Boys Brigade Members Killed In Gombe Car Crash En Route Burial
Tragedy struck along the Gombe–Billiri Road on Tuesday as three members of the Boys Brigade Nigeria lost their lives in a fatal crash while travelling to attend a fellow member’s funeral.
The victims were on their way to Tal in Billiri Local Government Area for the burial of a fellow Brigade member and his daughter, who themselves had died days earlier in an accident at Rainbow Roundabout. The mourning journey became a double tragedy.
Gombe State’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson, Janet Kassa, confirmed the incident Wednesday, simply stating: “Confirmed.” She added that preliminary findings point to tyre failure as the likely cause of the crash.
In a show of solidarity, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Gombe Branch, extended heartfelt condolences. Outgoing Chairman Benjamin Sati, in a solemn statement, said the entire Bar stood with the families, the Gombe State Council of the Boys Brigade, and especially the Brigade’s President, Chief Caleb Ubale, Esq.
“The NBA Gombe Branch commiserates with the families of the deceased and the injured, and with the people of Gombe State,” Sati said. “We pray for God’s perfect healing to your hearts. Take this as the doing of the Lord and be grateful notwithstanding.”
The accident has cast a dark cloud over Gombe’s youth and religious communities, who are now grappling with compounded grief.
