The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to unveil a new trophy for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Wednesday, July 2.

The launch will take place in Morocco, the host nation for this year’s edition of the biennial tournament.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe has repeatedly emphasized his commitment to transforming women’s football across the continent, and the introduction of a new trophy aligns with that vision.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have won the previous trophy a record nine times, followed by Equatorial Guinea with two titles, while current champions Banyana Banyana of South Africa have lifted it once.

The WAFCON 2024 finals will run from Saturday, July 5 to Saturday, July 26 in Morocco. The opening match will see the host nation’s Atlas Lionesses take on the Copper Queens of Zambia.
