Poly Ibadan Officially Renamed for Former Gov Olunloyo by Makinde
Governor Seyi Makinde on Thursday announced the renaming of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, in honor of the late former governor of the state, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo.
The governor made the declaration during the interdenominational commendation service held for the late statesman at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan.
“In recognition of his contributions to our state, the institution will henceforth be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan,” Governor Makinde stated.
Dr. Olunloyo, who served as Oyo State governor in 1983, passed away a few weeks before his 90th birthday. The renaming decision underscores his enduring legacy in education and governance.
Further details on the official transition of the institution’s name will be released by the state government.
