Oborevwori to Inaugurate NUJ Secretariat in Delta State

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State is set to formally commission the newly constructed permanent secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, a major highlight of the Union’s 2025 Press Week celebrations.

The ultra-modern secretariat, valued at several million naira, was built and elegantly furnished by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited—a private security firm contracted by the Federal Government for pipeline surveillance in the Niger Delta.

The inauguration, scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2025, will also feature a public lecture titled “Fight Against Oil Theft: The Impact of Private Security and Role of the Media.”

This was disclosed in a joint statement by Dele Fasan and Akpokona Omafuaire, Chairman and Secretary of the NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel 2025 Press Week Committee, respectively.

Governor Oborevwori, the Special Guest of Honour, will officially cut the ribbon at the commissioning, while the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Prof. Ezekiel Agbalagba, will serve as Chairman of the event.

Guest speaker for the day is Captain Wariedi Enisuoh, Executive Director, Technical/Operations, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd.

Other events scheduled for the week include a public sensitization campaign themed “NUJ Says No to Crisis in Warri.” As part of the outreach, union members will embark on a citywide walk through major streets in Warri to engage with residents and promote peace.
