AC Milan Fire Coach Conceicao After Just Half A Year In The Role
AC Milan have dismissed coach Sergio Conceicao after just six months at the helm of the Serie A club.
The 50-year-old took over in December following Paulo Fonseca’s sacking, signing an 18-month contract.
Although Conceicao secured the Italian Super Cup just a week into his tenure, Milan’s league performance remained inconsistent, and they suffered defeat in the Coppa Italia final to Bologna.
Under his leadership, Milan finished eighth in Serie A, missing out on European football next season, while city rivals Inter Milan are set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
In a brief statement, the Serie A giants confirmed: “AC Milan and Sergio Conceiçao will not continue their journey together next season.
“The Club would like to thank Sergio and his staff for their commitment, professionalism and dedication shown during their time leading the First Team over the past few months.
“The AC Milan family parts with the coach who won the 50th trophy in the Club’s history, wishing him the best for the future.”
Reports from Italy suggest that Massimiliano Allegri is set to return to San Siro as Sergio Conceicao’s successor at AC Milan.
The 57-year-old previously managed Milan from 2010 to 2014, winning the Serie A title in the 2010-11 season.
Earlier today, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Allegri has agreed to rejoin his former club.
The experienced coach went on to secure five more Serie A titles during his tenure with Juventus. He has been out of work since parting ways with Juve at the end of the 2023-24 season.
