Twenty Players Arrive In Super Eagles Camp Ahead Of Unity Cup Showdown With Ghana
Preparations are intensifying for the Super Eagles ahead of their opening clash with Ghana at the 2025 Unity Cup, as 20 players have already reported to camp in London.
Among the early arrivals are prominent Europe-based talents such as Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Cyriel Dessers, Felix Agu, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Nathan Tella, and Semi Ajayi. They are joined by veteran NPFL forward Ahmed Musa and defender Igho Ogbu, as head coach Eric Chelle sharpens his squad for the high-stakes encounter at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium.
The domestic contingent features Junior Nduka, Sodiq Ismaila, Waliu Ojetoye, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Papa Mustapha, Saviour Isaac, Collins Ugwueze, Sikiru Alimi, and Abubakar Adamu—whose early arrival is expected to help foster team chemistry in the blend of homegrown talent and seasoned internationals.
Still expected in camp are goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, and Amas Obasogie, along with defenders Chrisantus Uche and Bruno Onyemaechi. Winger Samuel Chukwueze and striker Tolu Arokodare are also scheduled to link up with the team in the coming hours.
Set to run from May 27 to 31, the Unity Cup features Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago in a four-nation tournament aimed at fostering sporting and cultural ties across African and Caribbean communities.
Nigeria’s opening game against arch-rivals Ghana takes place on Wednesday, May 28—a fixture that promises fierce competition and national pride. With 20 players already in camp, the Eagles are building momentum as Chelle fine-tunes his lineup and strategy.
Beyond bragging rights, the tournament offers a stage for NPFL stars to make their case for long-term inclusion while giving the national team a vital tune-up ahead of more competitive engagements later in the year.
