Arsenal have officially completed the signing of Spanish defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia in a deal initially valued at £13 million (€15 million), with the potential to rise through performance-based add-ons.
The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the North London club, which includes an option for a one-year extension. Following his medical in London, Mosquera joined the Arsenal squad in Singapore for preseason training.
Reflecting on his move, Mosquera described it as a moment he couldn’t turn down. “A lot of hard work has gone into making this happen,” he said. “This is a huge opportunity. I’m joining a historic and massive club. The moment you arrive here with your family, you feel how big Arsenal truly is.”
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta welcomed the new arrival with praise. “We’re delighted to welcome Cristhian to Arsenal. At just 21, he’s already shown consistency and maturity playing in La Liga,” said Arteta via the club’s website. “He’s quick, intelligent, and comfortable across the backline. He has exciting potential and will be a strong addition to our squad as we build for the new season.”
Arteta concluded with a warm gesture, adding, “We look forward to helping him settle in. On behalf of everyone at the club, we welcome Cristhian and his family to Arsenal.”
