2025 UTME: JAMB Registrar Ishaq Oloyede Denies Conspiracy Theories Against Any Region
The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has dismissed claims of conspiracy theories targeting a particular region following the technical glitch experienced during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Last week, Oloyede revealed that the board faced a technical glitch that affected candidates’ results in five South-East states and Lagos. Some accused the board of deliberately causing the glitch to thwart the academic ambitions of candidates from the region.
However, during a meeting with JAMB management ahead of the release of the rescheduled UTME results, Prof. Oloyede denied these allegations.
He also expressed regret over the death of a candidate linked to the examination, after which a minute of silence was observed in their honor.
Prof. Oloyede emphasized that there was no intentional attempt to undermine students from the South-East, stating that every candidate is Nigerian and deserves equal opportunities.
His denial comes amid calls, especially from South-East lawmakers, demanding his resignation over the glitch that affected over 300,000 students.
On Tuesday, the South-East Caucus of the 10th House of Representatives called for Oloyede’s resignation in response to the incident.
