The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued a baby boy, now named Godswill Kalu Awa (alias), who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba in February 2025.

The agency made this announcement in a statement released on Monday, May 19, 2025.

According to the statement, the child was rescued by NAPTIP’s Abia Command on May 14, 2025.

The suspected trafficker was arrested by the DSS in Abia and handed over to NAPTIP. She is believed to have collaborated with three trafficking syndicates based in Abuja and sold the child to a buyer.

In her statement, the suspect revealed that the Abuja-based syndicates, who are currently at large, received N1.8 million from the sale, while she was paid N100,000.

NAPTIP is urging the biological parents or any relatives of the child to urgently get in touch with the agency.
