Suspected kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N200 million for the release of Kwara petrol dealer Alhaji Abbas and his manager, Abubakar Issa.

The victims were abducted on Friday, May 9, 2025, in the Gbugbu community, located in the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State. The gunmen also stole an undisclosed sum of money and set Abbas’ Toyota Sienna vehicle on fire.

A close relative of the victims revealed that the ransom demand was communicated to Alhaji Abbas’ wife, adding further distress to the family.

Despite the troubling circumstances, there is a glimmer of hope. The relative also confirmed that security agencies have been mobilized and are working diligently to secure the safe release of both Alhaji Abbas and Abubakar Issa.

“The family is understandably devastated by this demand,” the relative stated. “However, we have been assured that the security agencies are taking this matter very seriously and are doing everything possible to bring them back home safely.”
