Police Train Officers In Kano On Cybersecurity And Anti-Corruption
In a bid to enhance professionalism and boost investigative efficiency, the Kano State Police Command has launched a specialised capacity-building programme for officers in the Criminal Investigation Department.
The training, which commenced on Tuesday, April 29, aligns with Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun’s directive to equip personnel with the skills necessary for effective investigation and prosecution.
According to a statement by Command spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the initiative seeks to develop a well-trained, motivated force ready to confront today’s complex security challenges.
Key presentations at the training included “Eliminating Corruption in the NPF,” delivered by Assistant Commissioner of Police CID, ACP Muhammad Wada Jarma; “Extortion and Other Unethical Conduct,” by ACP Mohammed B. Suleiman of the X-Squad; and “Cyber-security Awareness,” presented by Mr. Jessy John from the Cyber-Safe Youth Initiative Organization.
The training sessions emphasised integrity, professionalism, and digital security awareness as key pillars of modern policing.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, commended the facilitators and encouraged officers to make the most of the opportunity to sharpen their investigative capabilities.
“This is not only a chance to learn but to refresh your knowledge and embrace new developments in the field,” CP Bakori said.
He was also honoured by the Cyber-Safe Youth Initiative for championing digital security within the force. Dedicating the award to his team, Bakori pledged it would inspire greater efforts in tackling emerging security threats.
He further announced that similar capacity-building programmes would be regularly organised across departments to keep pace with evolving policing demands, reinforcing the Command’s commitment to a safer society.
