Suspected Thief Disguised As Customer Slits Hawker’s Throat In Abuja
The incident occurred on the morning of March 26, 2025, at Gate 1 in Dutse-Alhaji town, Bwari Area Council, FCT. The victim, 25-year-old Babangida Abdullahi, was selling waist belts when the suspect, pretending to be a customer, attacked him by slitting his throat and fled without paying.
“One of them picked one of my belts worth N1500 and kept it inside his pocket. I confronted him about his action, but he refused to give the belt back to me, neither did he pay for it,” the victim narrated.
“He went ahead to bring out a sharp object from his pocket and cut me around my neck, before fleeing the scene by crossing the expressway.”
A health official at Kubwa General Hospital told Daily Trust that a policeman brought the victim in, and he underwent surgery on his neck, involving veins near his throat’s artery.
The official added that no relatives or associates had come forward, leaving the hospital staff to cover the cost of injections, drugs, and other medications.
Reacting to the situation, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Emmanuel Musa, assured that they would continue caring for the victim while searching for his family.
