The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has officially declared the outcomes of the 2026 national elections. Following a competitive race, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya was elected as the 33rd president of the association.
Aham Ejelam, SAN, the ECNBA chairman, revealed the results at the national secretariat in Abuja. Badejo-Okusanya secured 12,317 votes, or 47.18 percent of the total, surpassing Lateef Akangbe, SAN, who received 7,934 votes, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, who finished with 5,855 votes.
As the newly elected leader, Badejo-Okusanya will hold the presidency for a two-year term lasting until 2028. Her win marks a historic moment, as she becomes the second woman to lead the legal body, following Priscilla Kuye’s service in the early 1990s. Official data confirms that 26,184 lawyers cast their ballots, reflecting a 31.86 percent participation rate from the total registered voter base.
