The Yobe State Government has officially formed a 15-member technical committee tasked with creating Local Government Development Area Councils (LGDACs). Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hussaini Mai Suleh, confirmed the formation of the group, noting that the initiative aims to increase civic participation, improve grassroots development, and bring government services closer to the local population.
Governor Mai Mala Buni authorized the committee, appointing Deputy Governor Hon. Idi Barde Gubana to lead the body. The membership includes key officials such as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, various Permanent Secretaries covering sectors like Finance, Justice, and Transport, as well as the heads of the Yobe Geographic Information System, the traditional rulers’ council, and the state chapter of ALGON. Barrister Bakura Ba’aba and the Acting Secretary to the State Government also hold roles, with the latter serving as the committee secretary.
The mandate of the committee involves performing a detailed analysis of the proposal, including its legal, financial, and administrative impacts. By studying national standards and constitutional requirements, the committee will generate an evidence-based report. This work is intended to guide the government in implementing policies that reflect a commitment to rigorous analysis and transparent public service.
