Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara acted appropriately by reuniting with his original political supporters. Wike emphasized that the governor essentially had no other path, as returning to his political roots was the logical choice.
During a Tuesday press interaction following an inspection of infrastructure projects, Wike downplayed the idea of forgiveness regarding their past conflicts. He noted that in the political arena, mistakes are common, and acknowledging them to change course is a positive step. He welcomed Fubara back, stating that the political family is ready to collaborate to advance the state.
Wike believes this reconciliation will bolster efforts to secure support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. He expressed a willingness to work together to ensure the President receives the necessary support for his upcoming campaign.
The announcement coincided with Wike’s review of significant construction efforts, including the ISEX Road Corridor and the Apo-Karshi Road. He highlighted that the administration remains committed to finishing projects left by previous governments, rather than ignoring them. Wike noted that the 10-kilometre ISEX project is scheduled for a partial completion in December, pending necessary funding. He praised President Tinubu for prioritizing the completion of existing public investments to ensure infrastructure development continues without interruption.
