Vice President Kashim Shettima has officially commenced a two-week vacation authorized by President Bola Tinubu. This marks his initial leave since he took office on May 29, 2023. Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, confirmed the news in Abuja on Thursday.
The break is intended to allow the Vice President time for study and personal reflection, aimed at enhancing his professional capacity. During this period, Shettima plans to evaluate the administration’s current projects, assess policy priorities, and gain a deeper insight into both domestic and international policy challenges. These efforts are designed to better equip him for his ongoing duties as the government focuses on the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Since his inauguration, Shettima has been heavily involved in managing various government initiatives, including those related to economic growth, food security, job creation, and digital advancement. He has also served as chair of the National Economic Council, which includes state governors and the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, to discuss issues impacting national welfare. Additionally, Shettima has frequently represented the President at international forums, focusing on regional integration, climate change, and sustainable development. He is expected to resume his official duties once the two-week leave concludes.
