Activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has reported receiving death threats following his recent public remarks regarding political leadership and governance issues in Northern Nigeria. In a video shared on his official platform, he revealed that several influencers from the region reacted with hostility to his commentary, with some even sending direct messages threatening his safety if he were to visit the area.
Despite these warnings, the activist remains undeterred and asserts that he can travel freely throughout Northern Nigeria. He emphasized that his critiques are focused strictly on political leadership, not the citizens themselves. He maintains that politicians bear the responsibility for systemic issues such as poverty, insecurity, and lack of economic growth in the region. He characterized the residents of the North as hardworking, arguing that the hardships they endure are the direct result of governance failures.
VeryDarkMan specifically targeted ineffective government empowerment schemes, such as a recent event in Kano State where plates were distributed to the public, labeling such efforts as counterproductive. He urged his critics to stop targeting him and instead hold their political representatives accountable for the current state of Northern communities, particularly concerning the decline in agricultural output caused by regional insecurity.
