Unidentified Gunmen Kill Farmer in New Plateau State Attack

A farmer was killed in Butura Gida, Plateau State, following a violent raid by suspected gunmen, adding to a recent surge of attacks in the region.

An unidentified gunman murdered a farmer during a raid on Butura Gida, a village located in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. Security researcher Zagazola Makama reported the incident on the platform X this Thursday. The assault occurred at approximately 7:47 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8.

Although soldiers from Sector 5 of Operation Enduring Peace responded to a distress call, the perpetrators escaped before security forces reached the scene. The troops recovered the victim’s body and are currently searching for the attackers. This tragedy occurred less than a day after a 13-year-old herder named Mustapha Abdul Kadir was discovered dead with four of his cattle in the Mangu Local Government Area.

Furthermore, two individuals lost their lives in a separate attack in the Torok community of the Riyom Local Government Area. Makama stated that these recurring episodes of violence between farming and pastoralist groups have caused significant alarm regarding the safety and stability of the Plateau region.
