Travel to and from Illah in the Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State has been paralyzed due to the total collapse of the Illah-Ugbolu Road. Heavy vehicles, such as Dangote trucks hauling cement, became immobilized on Tuesday after attempting to cross the damaged sections, creating a massive obstruction for other motorists.
Local resident Molokwu Azuka has reached out to the Delta State government, stressing that the thoroughfare has deteriorated past the point of simple maintenance. According to Azuka, the route is effectively severed, preventing any movement into or out of Illah via Ugbolu. He warned that this situation represents a serious humanitarian and economic emergency rather than just a public works issue.
The impact of the road failure is widespread, affecting farmers unable to transport their harvest, traders losing revenue, and hindering access for students, medical patients, and essential workers. Azuka is urging the state authorities to classify the road as an emergency site and initiate repairs immediately to restore connectivity for the isolated residents.
