The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) asserted they were targeting militant operatives, claiming to have killed two Hamas commanders associated with the Nukbha force and the Maghazi Battalion. Conversely, local health officials described strikes on residential properties, detailing the deaths of families and children. Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen stated that no formal agreement currently exists to halt military actions, noting that the territory remains largely under Israeli control. He expressed a desire for total Israeli governance if Hamas fails to disarm.
While President Trump previously characterized the Board of Peace deal as a significant step for the Middle East, skepticism persists within the Israeli government. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has openly criticized the proposal. The broader 20-point plan, introduced in September, aims for a total ceasefire, troop withdrawals, and the eventual transfer of heavy weaponry to a Palestinian National Committee, which currently operates from Cairo.
