Tambuwal advises President Tinubu to focus on security instead of politics

Former Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal has urged President Tinubu to shift his focus from politics to the nation’s security, citing the urgent need to protect citizens from banditry.

Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the former Sokoto State Governor, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to place Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation ahead of political considerations. He emphasized that lasting development is impossible in an environment dominated by violence.

During a visit to Bodinga Local Government Area on Thursday, Tambuwal met with families displaced by recent bandit raids. He labeled these recurring attacks a national disaster that demands immediate action from the federal authorities, noting that the government’s foremost duty is the protection of its citizens.

The senator argued that while politics is essential to democracy, the current security crisis requires undivided attention. He noted that economic and infrastructural progress can only be realized once citizens are safe. To combat the issue, he reiterated his long-standing support for state police, suggesting it would improve intelligence gathering at the local level.

Tambuwal, who served in the House of Representatives, called for creative strategies to combat terrorism and banditry. During his visit, he provided ₦20 million in aid to families affected by violence in Bodinga and Tureta. He concluded by urging all tiers of government and aid organizations to cooperate in restoring peace and supporting survivors.
