Sultan of Sokoto demands swift rescue for abducted Borno students

The Sultan of Sokoto has called on the federal government to secure the release of kidnapped Borno students, citing the successful rescue of pupils in Oyo State as a hopeful precedent.

Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has lauded the recent recovery of pupils and teachers held captive in Oyo State. He is now calling on the Federal Government and security forces to prioritize the rescue of students recently kidnapped in Borno State.

In a public statement released Friday, the Sultan expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts between the Oyo state government and federal authorities that led to the freedom of the captives after nearly two months. He suggested that this success should provide a template for future security operations.

Emphasizing the value of human life, the Sultan stated that all Nigerians deserve equal protection regardless of their location. He urged authorities to apply the same level of urgency and dedication to the Borno kidnapping case.

Beyond government action, the Sultan appealed to the public to shun criminal activities such as banditry and terrorism, noting that no faith supports such violence. He encouraged citizens and religious leaders to report criminals within their neighborhoods to help reestablish national stability.
