State House Label Peter Obi’s TV Interview a Public Relations Failure

Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for the Nigerian Presidency, has criticized Peter Obi’s recent television interview, calling it a public relations failure and accusing the former governor of spreading inaccuracies regarding the 2023 election results and his own political history.

The Nigerian Presidency has condemned Peter Obi for his recent interview on Channels Television, characterizing the appearance as a public relations disaster. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, took to social media to criticize the former Anambra governor, asserting that Obi’s comments were filled with falsehoods and a refusal to acknowledge the results of the 2023 presidential election.

Onanuga specifically targeted Obi’s attempt to equate his own political history with that of President Bola Tinubu. While Obi claimed his movement between political parties mirrors Tinubu’s own path, Onanuga countered that the President has remained ideologically consistent. He listed Tinubu’s tenure across the SDP, AD, AC, ACN, and finally the APC as proof of a steady progressive outlook. In contrast, the presidential aide accused Obi of jumping between the APGA, PDP, and Labour Party solely to serve personal ambitions.

Furthermore, Onanuga dismissed Obi’s lingering belief that he won the 2023 race. He emphasized that the Supreme Court had already finalized the matter and that Obi finished in third place. The official concluded his remarks by urging Obi to stop fixating on a victory that never materialized and to accept the electoral reality.
