Solomon Dalung Demands Probe Into Death at Minister David Umahi’s Residence

Former Minister Solomon Dalung has demanded an impartial investigation into the death of Mary Habila at the home of Minister David Umahi, questioning if public officials are held to the same legal standards as ordinary citizens.

Solomon Dalung, the former Minister of Youth and Sports, is pushing for an unbiased and transparent inquiry into the passing of Mary Habila. Her body was discovered at the Abuja home belonging to David Umahi, the current Minister of Works.

In a public statement, Dalung highlighted a potential disparity in how justice is served, querying if government officials are exempt from legal scrutiny. He noted that if the circumstances were reversed and the daughter of a prominent official was found in the home of an average citizen, the reaction would likely be severe.

Dalung criticized the current lack of transparency, pointing out that despite the alarming nature of the death, the Minister of Works continues his routine without clear explanations regarding the situation. He challenged whether political figures possess immunity or if systemic impunity has become standard practice.

Emphasizing that justice should be blind to social standing or financial power, Dalung argued that the value of human life must not be dictated by one’s status. He concluded that every suspicious fatality requires a rigorous and fair investigation.
