The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has confirmed it is engaging in discussions with current senators, members of the House of Representatives, and various political stakeholders nationwide. These negotiations are centered on potential defections as part of a strategic shift before the 2027 general elections. The political climate is becoming increasingly active as parties attempt to secure prominent figures.
This development follows the official move of Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, who left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the APM. His transition was announced during a Senate plenary session and he was welcomed at the APM’s Abuja headquarters by National Chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle. The party highlighted Senator Onawo’s extensive background, including his tenure as the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and his legislative experience in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Addressing the future, Dantalle emphasized that the APM is focused on victory in the 2027 presidential race to restore national prosperity. Senator Onawo expressed his dedication to the party, pledging to support the APM’s success in his home district of Nasarawa South and beyond. Additionally, the APM reaffirmed its support for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as its designated presidential candidate.
