Seyi Makinde, the presidential nominee for the Peoples Movement (APM), has officially selected Lawal Musa Daura, the former head of the Department of State Services, to be his partner in the 2027 presidential race. The announcement took place this past Thursday during the party’s national convention held in Bauchi.
During the event, the Oyo State Governor emphasized that the opposition’s primary objective for the upcoming election cycle extends beyond simply capturing political office. He argued that the real necessity is to present the Nigerian public with a legitimate alternative capable of securing the nation’s future. While acknowledging that the campaign season will be filled with typical rhetoric and pledges, Makinde urged voters to raise their expectations for political leadership.
Lawal Musa Daura, who recently switched to the APM following his departure from the ADC, steps in to replace Ibrahim Adamu Bala. Bala had previously been named as a placeholder candidate for the position.
