Real Madrid Completes 51.8 Million Pound Transfer for Marc Cucurella

Real Madrid has signed Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella in a deal worth 51.8 million pounds, marking the latest move under manager Jose Mourinho.

Real Madrid has officially confirmed the acquisition of Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella for a total fee of 51.8 million pounds. The agreement, finalized this past Sunday, consists of a guaranteed 47.5 million pounds with an additional 4.3 million pounds in performance-related incentives. The 27-year-old Spaniard has committed to a six-year contract.

Currently participating in the World Cup held across North America, the defender arrives at the Santiago Bernabeu following a turbulent tenure at Chelsea. Having joined the London club from Brighton in 2022 for 63 million pounds, Cucurella reportedly sought a return to his native Spain. His decision follows public criticism of Chelsea’s management during the previous season, particularly regarding the instability caused by the departure of Enzo Maresca and the subsequent tenure of Liam Rosenior.

Under the leadership of re-elected president Florentino Perez and newly appointed manager Jose Mourinho, Real Madrid is actively restructuring its squad. Reports indicate the club is also pursuing Bernardo Silva and Denzel Dumfries, while Ibrahima Konate is expected to join the ranks from Liverpool. Chelsea, having finished a disappointing 10th last season, has since appointed Xabi Alonso as their permanent manager for the 2026-27 season.
