Primate Elijah Ayodele, who leads the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has expressed skepticism regarding the political future of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential ticket featuring Peter Obi and Rabi’u Kwankwaso. In a video message shared on X, the cleric addressed his followers, suggesting that the pair faces significant hurdles in the 2027 general elections.
The religious leader argued that the NDC would have been better served by entering into a coalition with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The two politicians had previously exited the ADC for the NDC this past May, pointing to legal disputes and internal friction as their primary reasons for the switch. Ayodele noted that the decision to pursue a solo path puts them at a disadvantage.
Addressing the party directly, the cleric stated that running alone makes the NDC irrelevant to the broader electoral outcome. He concluded that despite the popular abbreviation of their names as “OK,” he does not anticipate that the Obi-Kwankwaso candidacy will achieve any significant progress in the upcoming presidential race.
