PDP Urges Urgent Action Over Deadly Terrorist Attacks in Sokoto
The Sokoto State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denounced the recent terror attack on Kwalajiya village in Tangaza Local Government Area, branding the incident as both barbaric and deeply tragic.
In a statement released Friday and signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, the PDP expressed profound grief over the death of 15 villagers and the injuries sustained by seven others during the Lakurawa attack earlier in the week.
“The Sokoto PDP is shocked and appalled by the terrorist assault on Kwalajiya in Tangaza,” the statement read. “We mourn the 15 innocent souls lost and extend our sympathy to the seven individuals wounded in the attack.”
The party urged security forces to act swiftly to apprehend the attackers and ensure justice is served. It also called on the Sokoto State Government to beef up security in the affected area and offer urgent assistance to those impacted by the violence.
Standing in solidarity with Tangaza residents, the PDP pledged unwavering support and emphasized that the safety of citizens must take precedence.
Additionally, the party urged the Federal Government to intensify its efforts in addressing the escalating insecurity not just in Sokoto, but nationwide.
“This attack is yet another painful reminder of the worsening security situation. We implore the Federal Government to fulfill its duty to protect lives and property,” the statement added.
The PDP concluded by reiterating its solidarity with communities suffering from insecurity and called for a collective response to stamp out terrorism and banditry across Nigeria.
