With the Osun State governorship election approaching on August 15, Kafayat Oyetola, spouse of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has launched a campaign team of 10,000 women to advocate for Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
Known as the Akoni Obinrin, or Brave Women group, the members conducted a march through key Osogbo locations including MDS, Station Road, and Ola-Iya, finishing at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Office. Mrs. Oyetola noted that the initiative aims to strengthen grassroots backing for Oyebamiji, also known as AMBO, and secure support for President Bola Tinubu’s future re-election in 2027.
She praised Oyebamiji’s professional background, asserting that his private and public sector experience makes him suitable for the governorship. The organization has established a presence in all 62 local council areas and every one of the 3,763 polling units in the state. According to Mrs. Oyetola, these volunteers will provide guidance on correct ballot procedures to minimize spoiled votes.
Sekinat Oyebamiji, wife of the candidate, emphasized that the event was intended to foster higher female voter turnout. Meanwhile, Bola Oyebamiji framed the event as a victory march, promising to improve the state’s economy if successful. Notable attendees included Princess Adebukola Adereti, Hon. Ayo Omidiran, and Hon. Taiwo Oluga.
