The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially dismissed reports claiming it missed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for submitting its presidential and vice-presidential candidates. The party maintains that it strictly adhered to the electoral schedule.
This response follows media reports suggesting that three political parties, including the PDP, failed to upload their nomination details before the portal closed. National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, labeled these reports as inaccurate and a significant distortion of the truth.
According to the official statement, the PDP successfully uploaded all required candidate information to the INEC portal at 11:50 a.m. on July 10, 2026. The party expressed disappointment that the media outlet published the claim based on an anonymous source without verifying the facts with leadership.
The PDP characterized the report as a failure to uphold basic journalistic standards of accuracy and fairness. Consequently, the party has demanded that the publication issue a formal retraction and public apology to rectify the misinformation.
