Parties Demand Justice Following Teenager’s Murder in Ilobu

Political tension escalates in Osun State as the Imole Campaign Council and the APC demand justice and a full police investigation into the murder of 14-year-old Ezekiel Olapade in Ilobu.

The tragic death of 14-year-old Ezekiel Olapade in Ilobu, Osun State, has prompted both the Imole Campaign Council and the All Progressives Congress to demand an immediate police investigation. The young boy was killed on June 21 while attempting to assist his mother during a violent assault in the community.

Senator Kamarudeen Olalere Oyewumi, leading the Imole Campaign Council, stated that the teenager lost his life during an attack reportedly involving a suspect known as Saheed Kareem. Oyewumi expressed severe criticism regarding the current state police leadership, urging the Inspector-General of Police to intervene by facilitating arrests and redeploying the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gottan, due to alleged inaction.

The All Progressives Congress also issued a formal condemnation, labeling the incident as an act of extreme cruelty. Kola Olabisi, the APC media director, insisted that the police must identify and prosecute everyone involved in the crime. The party clarified that their gubernatorial candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, rejects violence and urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to prioritize the safety and security of all citizens.
