Osun Gubernatorial Hopeful Oyebamiji Vows to Eliminate Waste and Boost State Revenue

APC candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji details his Prosperity Agenda for Osun, focusing on fiscal discipline, infrastructure integrity, and a peaceful election campaign.

The All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate for the August 15 Osun State election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has outlined his strategy to transform the state’s financial health. Oyebamiji, a former Commissioner for Finance, asserts that the current administration is failing to provide value for citizens despite receiving significantly higher monthly federal allocations compared to previous years. He contends that current infrastructure projects are frequently marred by secrecy and poor execution, leading to premature failures.

Central to his campaign is the Prosperity Agenda, a seven-point platform prioritizing poverty alleviation, worker welfare, security, and economic growth. Within his first 100 days, Oyebamiji pledges to address outstanding worker entitlements, operationalize the Dagbolu Dry Port, and provide ICT training for thousands of youths. He also plans to conduct a comprehensive fiscal audit and implement off-grid renewable energy projects.

Addressing concerns regarding electoral violence, Oyebamiji denies that his party encourages hostility. Instead, he claims the APC is a victim of politically motivated attacks orchestrated by the current government and the Accord party, citing several reported incidents involving party members. He calls for law enforcement to remain impartial and demands thorough investigations into all allegations of criminal conduct.

Regarding the state’s economy, the candidate emphasizes that he will not pursue a witch-hunt but will focus on closing revenue loopholes and reducing the cost of governance. He plans to leverage technology to enhance internally generated revenue, mirroring strategies he claims were successful during his previous tenure under governors Rauf Aregbesola and Adegboyega Oyetola. Finally, he reiterated his support for local government autonomy and expressed confidence that his message of accountability and practical solutions will secure him victory at the polls.
