Mr. Olapade Olugbemiga has shared the harrowing story of how his son, Ezekiel, was killed in Ilobu, Osun State. The teenager was shot while trying to pull his mother to safety after she fell during a chaotic scene caused by armed individuals.
During a press briefing held by the Imole Campaign Council in Osogbo, the grieving father explained that his wife was operating a palm wine business near the local government secretariat when armed men arrived in an APC-branded vehicle. The men reportedly began firing weapons into the air, forcing bystanders to flee. While searching for his son after helping another injured person, Mr. Olugbemiga discovered Ezekiel’s body by the side of the road.
Senator Lere Oyewumi, speaking on behalf of the Imole Campaign Council, denounced the violence and criticized the Osun State Police Command. He specifically called for the removal of Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan, questioning the force’s neutrality in political conflicts. The Senator urged Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to intervene and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
The APC responded to the allegations through its media director, Chief Kola Olabisi, who denied that party members or supporters were behind the attack. Olabisi stated that their candidate, Asiwaju Oyebamiji, does not condone violence. Meanwhile, the man identified as the gang leader, Tanfeani, refuted the claims against him. He insisted he was not present in Ilobu during the incident and suggested he is being targeted for political reasons.
