Osun APP Calls on Security Forces to Enforce Federal High Court Ruling on Council Leadership

The Osun State APP is demanding that security agencies enforce a Federal High Court ruling that declared the holdover of APC council officials unconstitutional and affirmed the authority of newly elected leaders.

The Action Peoples Party (APP) in Osun State has formally requested that security services guarantee adherence to a recent Federal High Court decision regarding local government governance. Odesola Titus, the state chairman of the party, issued a statement on Sunday asserting that the court ruling legitimizes the current, rightfully elected council leadership.

The court in Osogbo determined that the ongoing presence of APC council members in office is unconstitutional. While the judiciary upheld the results of the February 22, 2025, local government elections, it rejected an attempt by the former APC officials to extend their tenure. Judge rulings delivered on June 15, 2026, dismissed the tenure extension request, stating the applicants lacked the standing to bring the case forward.

APP leaders are now pressing law enforcement to protect the mandates of the candidates who secured victory in the 2025 elections. Governor Ademola Adeleke has previously stated that the PDP officials elected in those polls are expected to assume their duties on June 22, 2026. The party insists that immediate enforcement of the court order is vital to maintaining public order and upholding the democratic process throughout the state.
