Accord Party governorship candidate in Oyo State, Oriyomi Hamzat, asserts that he played a pivotal role in launching the political career of Governor Seyi Makinde. During a gathering with party members in Ibadan, Hamzat stated that his efforts in introducing and supporting Makinde deserve recognition for the governor’s current accomplishments.
Hamzat questioned why critics focus on negative narratives rather than acknowledging his contribution to the governor’s successful tenure. He emphasized that since opponents acknowledge Makinde’s positive reforms, he should also be credited for the governor’s successes. He firmly denied that his support was motivated by personal financial gain or government contracts.
Instead, the candidate explained that his original alliance with the administration was based on a commitment to serve the public interest. He expressed a desire for the public to recognize the individual he brought into the political sphere for the work being done, rather than casting him as ungrateful.
