The Ogun State Government has expressed its gratitude to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) for its assistance during the search and recovery efforts following a building collapse at Baale Road, OGS Bus Stop, Ajuwon. To ensure clarity, the state government outlined the timeline of the response, emphasizing that Ogun State authorities, under Governor Dapo Abiodun’s directive, initiated rescue operations immediately after the incident occurred on Monday.
Local teams from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, and the Ogun State Emergency Management Agency, alongside security forces and Craneburg, began work within minutes of the collapse using heavy-duty equipment. By the time LASEMA arrived on Tuesday, July 28, following a formal request from the Ogun State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, rescue crews had already been operating on-site for over 18 hours.
The government also recognized the contributions of Ifo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Kusimo Idris Olalekan, and various security and community partners in managing the scene. Looking forward, the administration has launched a technical investigation to uncover the cause of the disaster and vowed to hold violators of building regulations accountable. Residents and developers are urged to adhere strictly to planning laws and structural standards. The government offered its condolences to the victims’ families and thanked the community for their ongoing cooperation.
