The Nigerian Army has officially cleared Aboubakar Muhammad Zein-Nur, a citizen of the Niger Republic also referred to as Houdairi, of all suspected terrorist ties after concluding an exhaustive probe. Capt. Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI, confirmed the findings in a Thursday announcement.
The investigation was prompted by July 14, 2026, media coverage regarding a man detained by the 68 Battalion following their engagement in the Cross Kauwa area. Military officials explained that the individual was initially held for screening as a standard precaution, given how frequently insurgent groups exploit regional borders for logistical movement.
Following an extensive intelligence review, authorities found no connections between Zein-Nur and any extremist organizations. Investigators established that he is a camel herder from Shattu Anguba Village in Bosso, Niger, who works near the River Komadougou. The Theatre Command emphasized its commitment to distinguishing civilians from combatants through rigorous screening and maintained that it continues to prioritize human rights and the rule of law while conducting counter-insurgency operations.
