Nigeria concluded the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow by securing seventh position on the overall medal table. Competing across 10 distinct sporting disciplines, the Nigerian contingent secured a total of 24 medals, consisting of 10 gold, seven silver, and seven bronze. This result established Nigeria as the top-performing nation from Africa.
Esther Nworgu initiated the gold medal count with a dominant showing in women’s lightweight para powerlifting. Further gold honors were claimed by Ezekiel Nathaniel in the men’s 400-meter hurdles and Idris Riluwan in the men’s para-powerlifting competition. Goodness Nwachukwu set a new world record during her gold-winning effort in the women’s F42 discus, while Chukwuebuka Enekwechi delivered a historic performance in the men’s shot put.
Australia dominated the event standings, ending the games with 65 gold medals, 41 silver, and 52 bronze. England placed second with 26 gold, 41 silver, and 35 bronze, followed by Canada in third with 18 gold, 20 silver, and 21 bronze.
