The Nationwide League One (NLO) has officially ordered all affiliated clubs to follow a uniform system for financial reporting. This mandate, announced in a statement released this Sunday, seeks to bolster the league’s overall commercial appeal and sustainability.
Under the new rules, every club is required to present certified or audited financial records upon the conclusion of each season. These documents must clearly outline player salaries, operational expenditures, and income streams. According to the NLO, these transparency measures are essential for ongoing league participation and ensure alignment with both Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Club Licensing Regulations and international standards.
Furthermore, clubs are now obligated to verify that they are meeting all payment commitments to staff and athletes to mitigate debt risks. Financial inflows from transfer fees, grants, and sponsorship deals must be thoroughly documented and submitted to the league office. This initiative is designed to increase the league’s attractiveness to potential investors and corporate sponsors.
