Soldiers from the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, recently conducted a sweep of suspected insurgent locations in the Geidam region of Yobe State. This mission aimed to disrupt any attempts by militant groups to establish a foothold in the area. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the effort involved troops from B Company, 159 Task Force Battalion, working alongside the National Forest Guards. The team mobilized on August 1 around 2:10pm following intelligence reports regarding possible insurgent activity.
Equipped with an MRAP vehicle and three gun trucks, the military unit moved into the villages of Garin Gada and Bulagra. Although the soldiers did not engage with any fighters, they performed thorough searches to ensure these areas could not be used as staging grounds. Local villagers indicated that while there are no permanent Boko Haram camps nearby, militants sometimes move through the region to handle logistical and administrative tasks. The soldiers returned to base by 4:37pm. Military officials emphasized that these raids are part of a broader strategy to prevent terrorist groups from organizing and that troops remain highly vigilant throughout the region.
