Oyo Police refute reports of abducted students and teachers being moved to Kaduna

The Oyo State Police Command has officially denied social media claims that students and teachers kidnapped in the Orire Local Government Area were moved to Kaduna by helicopter.

The Oyo State Police Command has officially labeled reports claiming that students and teachers kidnapped in the Orire Local Government Area were airlifted to Kaduna State as entirely false. DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the spokesperson for the police, addressed a circulating social media video that alleged the victims from the Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota areas had been relocated.

Authorities described the footage as misleading and lacking any factual evidence. The police emphasized that such unsubstantiated claims undermine ongoing rescue efforts and generate unnecessary fear among the public. They clarified that security forces are actively collaborating to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of all those held captive.

The Command issued a strong warning against the spread of misinformation regarding national security. Officials stated that those found originating or distributing content designed to damage the reputation of security agencies would face legal consequences. Residents are encouraged to remain patient and rely only on official police updates as the investigation continues.
