Soldiers from Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai successfully stopped a plot by Boko Haram and ISWAP members to gather forced payments from Yobe State inhabitants. Acting on reports of insurgents traveling by motorcycles and Volkswagen Golf vehicles to collect these illegal fees, the military mobilized a response.
Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer, stated that troops from the Forward Operating Base in Bukarti and the 27 Task Force Brigade conducted a patrol near Paya Kafiya on July 19. Upon intercepting the group, a firefight broke out.
One vehicle used by the suspects was neutralized, and its driver was killed. Four other individuals fled into the vegetation while wounded. During subsequent operations along the Paya Kafiya–Garin Gada route, soldiers seized the abandoned car and various supplies, including ammunition, a magazine, medical kits, nicotine products, and tools.
This mission aligns with broader military objectives to dismantle terrorist logistics and stop their financing methods in Nigeria’s North-East region.
