The Benue State branch of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has officially denounced the violence and fatalities currently impacting the Benue South senatorial district. During a Thursday announcement in Makurdi, Ibrahim Galma, the state secretary for the group, requested that Governor Hyacinth Alia form a unified security and peace body to tackle rising instability.
Galma proposed that this committee feature members from the Idoma, Igede, Agatu, and Fulani populations residing in Zone C to encourage communication and curb future unrest. He also pressed the state government to deploy additional security personnel to vulnerable regions, arguing that such measures would reinforce stability and harmony.
Emphasizing the organization’s dedication to law and order, Galma advised all Fulani residents in the area to maintain order and utilize official channels for their complaints. The official statement urged government officials, traditional leaders, and security services to act swiftly, suggesting the creation of an early-warning system alongside the committee. Finally, Galma offered prayers for the deceased, asking for comfort for their families and a quick recovery for those harmed by the attacks.
