Lauretta Onochie, a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, contends that Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, will not succeed by taking legal action against Adeyemi Adeniyi. Adeniyi, who claims to be the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), recently accused Gbajabiamila of soliciting a 48 percent kickback from a ₦27.3 billion grant.
According to Onochie, rather than pursuing a defamation lawsuit, authorities like the DSS, EFCC, the police, and President Tinubu himself should have conducted an investigation to verify the validity of these serious claims. Adeniyi alleged that he had already paid ₦400 million to a proxy of the Chief of Staff and still owed ₦200 million.
Following his arrest and subsequent release, Adeniyi faced a defamation suit from Gbajabiamila. Onochie stated on social media that this legal strategy is ineffective. She expressed belief in the allegations and questioned whether other government agencies might be operating under similar circumstances without adequate oversight from the administration or national security bodies.
