A House of Representatives committee investigating the fraudulent Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has commanded Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to bring the primary suspect, Adeyemi Martin, before them by midday on Wednesday.
This directive follows confirmation from the Nigeria Police Force regarding an active criminal probe, which was initiated by complaints from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President. These documents accuse Adeyemi of falsely claiming the title of director-general for both the PFIPC and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
Rep Yusuf Gagdi, who leads the committee, emphasized that Adeyemi must testify due to the serious nature of the accusations and the potential damage to public and institutional reputations. Gagdi stated that the suspect’s presence is mandatory for the committee to verify documents and complete its reporting process without delays. To ensure compliance, the committee has instructed its clerk to send a formal written request to the police.
Representing the Inspector-General, Assistant Commissioner of Police Basir Abdullahi noted that although the police investigation is still active, authorities have already lodged an eight-count criminal charge against the suspect at the Federal High Court.
