The Lagos State House of Assembly has postponed the approval of two candidates proposed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the Local Government Service Commission. Lawmakers noted that Durosimi Yinka and Seriki Ahmed require further evaluation before their appointments can proceed. In contrast, the legislative body officially cleared three other nominees: Hakeem Bamgbola, Olaleye Samsudeen, and Olabanji Folashade, all of whom passed the necessary screening.
These outcomes arrived after Mojeed Fatai Adebola presented the findings of a 12-member ad-hoc committee. Adebola explained that the review process followed constitutional standards, assessing the candidates based on their professional history and character. Speaker Mudashiru Obasa oversaw the voice vote that formalized these decisions.
Separately, the Assembly reviewed a proposal for automated street sweeping on the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway. While supporting the goal of better sanitation via BlueCap Technology Limited, legislators demanded safeguards for current manual workers. Speaker Obasa stressed that modernization should not compromise the livelihoods of street sweepers. Furthermore, the Assembly called for increased transparency regarding the financial arrangements of the project to protect the state from future fiscal risks.
